Helping individuals heal their attachment injuries in a couples group therapy setting

1.5 CONTINUING EDUCATION UNITS (CEUS)

When we have experienced a lot of relational trauma, we can feel all alone, disconnected, cut off from everyone and everything. We are capable of healing and repairing these broken connections, to our self, other people and loved ones. But we can’t do it alone. We don’t heal in isolation. We need other people. We are hurt in relationships and we heal in relationships. In this session participants will learn some techniques of psychodrama while working with couples in a group therapy setting. Participants will learn techniques that provide safety for healing to take place. The process of self-regulation and co-regulation in couples group therapy allows for the skill of earning how to feel safe with others, especially “others” that contributed to injury. This is revolutionary.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Self-regulation and co-regulation are both needed and beneficial throughout our lifetime.
  2. Learning how to help clients feel safe with others. In order to heal together, our clients need to feel safe.
  3. Helping couples “seek” to feel safe in their relationships, and in turn, remembering to help their partner feel the same.
